Default Adding lids.

Adding lids with Polk mm692 6x9’s. Going in a 2011 street glide with stock hk. Also running ss 4.520 amp with kappas in the fairing and lowers. I’ve read the 692’s get hot and might melt things in the bags if gets close to the speaker. So does anybody know if melting things Is an isolated incident or is this normal and how to wire these speakers to the amp? Especially running 6 speakers. 4 Kappas two ohm and the polks 4 ohm. Thanks for any suggestions.

Yes those speakers will get hot. Just the nature of the beast with those 6x9's. As far as wiring them to your current amp, that's a no go with your current setup. You'll need a separate amp to run the 6x9's.

There is way more than a single incident. I would not use those speakers, spend another hundo and get a set of the MMat coax 6x9.

Any suggestions on a single amp that could run the four kappas and a set of 6x9’s in the lids? Trying not to loose any more bag space if possible.

The hard part about that is that you would have to run the 4 kappas in parallel on the front two channels. Because they are 2 ohm speakers, when run in parallel the ohm load drops to 1 ohm. Most 4 channel amps are not 1 ohm stable. You would need 4 new 6.5s that are 4 ohm to run this configuration.

loose the kappas all together,
get yourself 4 Mmats PA601.4cx's for the front Mmats PA690.4 cx for the lids and either the Mmatts MD4110 amp or the Stinger700.4 amp and you'll be very happy.

Running all mmats would be the best recommendation, but if you already have the kappas and an amp that you are hoping to use for now, then I would just add a second amp along with those 6x9mmatts. Depending on the bike, most of us have found room in the fairing for 2 or 3 amps. The NVX amps are compact enough to find room for.

Another problem is the stock head unit and a class D amp. You will be using a CD or your phone plugged into the aux jack as FM will be gone. Unless you go with the stinger or another FM friendly amp. Welcome to the rabbit hole.

Thanks for making room for me in the rabbit hole. I use my phone all the time for music. Looks like a second amp and 6x9s. Where would the second amp fit in the fairing? 2011 sg.
