Dsr all the way out, pigtail detached. Remote from HU to amp turns on the amp. Still no sound with rcas straight from HU to amp. The USBs from the HU no longer work either, so with no bluetooth and no android auto all I have is the tuner and that gets no sound.

 

These are the only two obvious things that are unplugged

 

Ok, so here is what I did. I bought a 3.5mm to dual rca cable from Home Depot. I plugged it into my phone and the roads to channels 1&2 of the amp. Guess what...music, and loud music.

To me this means that by isolating the HU out of the formula, everything works. To me that means the HU is bad, or at least the pre outs.

Does anyone smarter than me (thats a lot of you folks) disagree with my backwards engineering?

 

makes sense to me. Does that hu have speaker wires output on it? If so you could hook a speaker directly to the hu to see if it has output on that side.
Is it possible there is something off in the hu? Does the hu seem to come on and function other than sound and usb issues?

 

The head unit will not find my phone on bluetooth and intermittently will not accept usb for Android auto. The USB won't even function to the point of allowing me to update the firmware.

 

Ok, so the hu is powering up, that rules out fuses and such.
Do you have a extension cable on the usb or is it pinched or routed against the battery feeds to amp? Double check all the connections on the hu.

 

I have check every connection twice, hoping it wasn't the head unit. I checked for wiring that might be shorting and ended up.pulling everything but the bare bones. I cant fi.d any other answer with my eyes.

 

And this is why Im fine paying someone to weed through stuff like this. I haven't the patience for this nor would I be happy with my bike being down for an extended period. lol

is there any chance there is an on/off for the preouts on the Sony in a menu somewhere?
