Amp draw
Anyone ever have a stinger 700.4 amp just start drawing power when the ignition is off? I put the amp n speakers in back in mid/late April. Sunday n Monday my bike had a lag to start. Didn’t ride Tuesday. Went to start the bike today and the battery’s dead. Did a parasitic draw test, got like 1.3 amps drawing with the ignition off. Pull the fuse to the amp (at the battery) and amp draw goes to nothing (miliamps). I haven’t pulled the fairing yet. That’s next. Am I looking for a short or a bad amp?

make sure that the remote trigger wire is not staying powered up. in turn keeping the amp powered also. if the trigger is not hot and the amp is still drawing, bad amp. check to see what supplies power to your trigger.

that’s what I was afraid of. So I’ve had this installed since mid April. And just recently started having the problem. So I don’t believe the remote wire is constantly hot. Or I would’ve had problems with dead battery right after I installed it. So I’m kinda leaning towards the amp went bad. But wasn’t sure if that’s what would happen if it went bad. I’ll pull the fairing off after work today and see if I can figure it out.

Along the lines of what Marco said set up your meter to check current draw (parasitic drain) again and unhook the trigger/turn on wire going to the amp. If you still have draw then probably the amp is bad. If you don't then your trigger wire may have shorted against something that is always hot. Worth a try.

Good idea Jack. Those old Bosch five pin ice cube relays are handy little devices. I never thought of running an amp feed through one but they offer similar devices with even higher current ratings if needed.
