Help with fade control.
Agreed. It's good to have but at the same time I can't hear the TP speakers at highway speed at all. I can if I'm biased to the rear at city speed. The SO also tells me she's getting most of her sound from up front. Still, if you have the inputs and the speakers are back there why not?
So let me pose this question for the ones that responded that use a DSP and still fade to the rear a bit when riding....Have you adjusted volume levels (db levels) so they match across your entire system?
Any audio installer that's worth a flip that installs DSP's will have a RTA to tune with. One of the most crucial parts of tuning is db level matching across the entire setup so that all of your different speakers, with different capabilities, can all peak together. When done properly, the fader will never be needed.

It's not ignorance brother. If you don't know, the only way to learn is to ask questions.
Most installers will only use the front channel inputs from the HU to the DSP, unless the customer specifically asks to retain the fader. When using a DSP, if tuned correctly, the fader would never be needed anyway. Now once the signal goes through the DSP, it's sent to the amp and the amp disperses the sound to the different speaker locations.

Also when I had loud pipes they made more noise at highway speeds than they did puttering around the backroads which would drown out some of the sound from the back.
Different scenarios for different folks I guess. I don't ever tell someone else they don't NEED anything. None of us NEED these bikes we ride. We ride them because we like them better than cages so we are already in the WANT category at that point. Might as well keep that mindset going.

Which brings me back to my question and I'll point it directly at you this time. Until you've heard the difference between one that's been db leveled and tuned versus just tuned, then you don't really know what you're missing.
And I NEVER said he shouldn't have what he WANTED. Only that it wasn't necessary.
This topic could be knit picked 100 different ways. Was just explaining the WHY in why a shop would set it up this way.

From my perspective sound quality has nothing to do with a fader control though. When my wife rides with me she doesn't like loud music so I run the fader most of the way up front so I can listen to the music without hurting her ears. I look at it a function of any sound system with speakers in the front and back. So to put it simply for what I use my bike for the fader is necessary. For others it may not be.
