Bass and Treble control lost with flash
Had the bike flashed per BT 1 amp 2 fairing speakers (128 off), the bass and treble control is there, moves but has no affect on sound.
Had my 10,000 mile checkup & service last week and I informed the service department of this problem. Currently, they have no answers, even acknowledging there are problems with the Boom components also.
However, the diagnostic codes did indicate a supposed malfunctioning head unit (which other than the stuff noted above, all else is good). They indicated that at my next service it will be checked again and if present will probably file a warranty claim for a new one.
This is a reply I received from BT about the flash I have now:
Unlike the auto sound industry Harley puts a big juicy spike in the mid base region to get some mid base out of them. This spike is like 14db up from reference. So, when you turn our stuff up with WAY more power behind the speaker, it gets really distorted really fast. So, you are correct the flash is to correct this, flattening out the sound curve.
Our amp will make up for everything else, provided the input is nice and clean and flat. The SNI-35 may need to have the gain increased to make up for radio flash not only flattening out the sound curve but also, likely dropping the reference voltage down. This is a good thing because it gets you out of the distorted threshold that Harley would rather run the radio to get louder. Their less sensitive speakers and amps will not accurately portray this distortion. And, generally will not get as loud or sound nearly as good.
If you can handle not having the eq, then our setup should work great. Please keep us posted and thank you for your input.
