Well, there are tons of options. I chose, for my 14 SGS with 6.5, the Rockford Fosgate PBR300x2 and Polk Audio MM651 in the fairing. About $280 plus some wire. Is it louder??? Yes.. Does it sound better??? Yes.. I cruise with the radio at 4 or 5 bars and it has a full sound with some bass. Stock setup I was cruising with it set at more than half way but had to turn it down because the lack of bass and over abundance of highs that was killing my ears. Do I like the system? Hell yes.. I could have spent thousands on an outstanding audio system..but it is a bike and you are in the wind. I just wanted the screeching fingernails on a chalkboard sound to go away. This setup did the trick.
I installed an Arc Audio KS 125.2 BS Mini Amp w/ Focal 165 KRC Speakers, had the Radio flashed by dealer and it is an awesome system. Great quality sound at all speeds.

The factory settings in the radio fine tune the DSP to accommodate for the lack of quality speakers. And they did a great job. But after installing an AMP & speakers you have to flash the radio to change that DSP settings, if you dont your low volume will be full of bass, mid will not sound right. Some are building plug and play to accommodate those factory settings so you don't need to flash.

When u say " some r building plug and play " r u refering to a aftermarket amp?
