Setup question
Just got a new 22 Street Glide and not real happy with the sound. Been reading through this forum gathering information. Trying to find out if there is anything else I need to get. Just ordered a Stinger 700 amp and install kit from Stinger as well. Also ordered a set of mmat Pa601cx's. I understand I will have to get the stereo flashed from Harley. Will this setup get me better than what I have and what all did I miss?
Thanks in advance

Couple of things. First, you may or may not be able to het a flash from a harley dealer. Many used to do them, but I think now with the recent management change and partnership with RF, they might not be willing to do them.
Any audio shop can flash it though, that has the techno research tool.
Make sure to run new speaker wire, and that its OFC wire. Not sure what comes in that stinger kit, but cheap enough to buy quality speaker wire anyway online.
I dont have a street glide, but ran those speakers and amp in my last RGS. The RG pods had to be heated to cut to allow the speakers to fit. You're bike might not need any mods, someone else can confirm that I'm sure.
Last, make sure, if you're doing your own install, that you read the sticky on how to set gains. This combo works pretty well and you can easily set gains by ear, but a cheap multimeter is a better way to go. And yes, these will be miles above your stock setup. They get very loud with little power and do have some warmth to them when set properly. You have a little room to grow should you decide later to add another pair of speakers, which I'm sure you will. lol

You will need to do a little trimming on the inside of the speaker pod to get mmats to sit down in them. There are some ribs to knock off. There's also one little nub where the speaker ring meets the pod that will need to cut off as well. Fairly easy to do.
What Stinger kit did you get? The Harley one comes will the speaker wire you need. You will also need to decide if you'll be using high or low level inputs on the amp. If using low level, you will need a LOC and some RCA's.

If you are genuinely asking........ Any time I hear George Thorogood, I can almost smell SR 95 in Utah. Because I happen to be listing to his album while traveling. Pretty good memories to kick up.

I got the Svtk4681kit. If you know of a better or different speaker that doesn't require trimming I am all ears. Just from what I read that is supposed to be a great speaker. I don't mind trimming it out to fit though. Really appreciate all the feedback. I used to wonder a out a stereo on a bike as well. Until I had my breakout without anything and stepped up to a bagger. Now it all makes since. This st 117 model is a freaking beast.

I would NOT suggest a different speaker. Your setup is a great, reliable setup. Keep it!

I have the Stinger 700 Amp and MMAT 601 fairing set up just like you are doing except in a ‘21 Road Glide. The system will sound very good and be loud. I ended up adding bag speakers which adds some fullness and sounds great at lower speeds but as everyone knows over 50 miles an hour you don’t really hear them very well. That amp and speaker combination is a good one.
I had a street glide before this road glide and it had lowers on it. Adding speakers to the lowers is a great upgrade and adds a good bit more sound while running. If I had lowers I would have installed speakers there rather than in the bags. The Stinger amp powers two sets of speakers very well.
I used the stinger wiring kit as well and it worked great it has everything you need except a line out converter. I would suggest an SNI line out converter to turn your amplifier output wires into RCA input to your amp. Here is a link to one. They are very inexpensive.
