Amp install question
I'm planning on installing a Boom Audio 2 amp and speakers in my 16 Ultra. I've never installed an amp before so here is my question. After I install do I need to do anything else? I read some post that said their unit had to be "flashed" by the dealer.
Thanks
Thanks
Thats correct, I don't know the proper term, but yes after you install the amp, you'll need it "flashed"/"programmed" for your "new" configuration. I had to on mine too...
How I understood it was, its telling the system to use the new amp, not the head unit... that may be an inaccurate explanation, but you're gonna have to get it programmed.
Some of the other guys here can tell you exactly why and what they are doing when they "flash" it.

The flash flattens the built in EQ curve that harley radios have.
You can flash it anytime, but if you install amp and speakers before you flash it, just dont play any music...or at least dont turn it up.
Also you'll of course need to set gains based on your speaker requirements. There's a great sticky here that walks you through setting them.

Yes you'll have to have the dealer flash your bike to recognize the Boom amp.
