Default Audio Buzz

Have a Hogtunes amp installed with 2 sets of 6.5” speakers and a set of tweeters, along with a fair amount of accessory LED lights - front and rear along with a run/brake/turn modulator…I’m getting a fairly loud buzz from the speakers at very low or no volume. Assuming it’s from a combination of the amplifier and the LED’s or the run/brake/turn modulator; is there a simple fix for the audio buzz to get it to go away?

Side note, I’m extremely happy with the music at mid and high volume. It’s crystal clear at 80mph on the freeway with a full face helmet!

remove the run/brake/turn module. That's what I ended up having to do to get rid of the buzz on mine.

You’re right, the buzzing does go away when I remove it. Hoping to keep it installed as that’s also the rear brake modulator from Custom Dynamics that I really like and actually think it makes me safer out on the road.

Is there anything in the market that will help with the buzzing that allows me to keep the modulator installed?

How about some snap on ferrite beads? They are made to reduce RF noise on AC voltage, not sure if they work on DC voltage but cheap enough to try.

Make sure your rca or speaker input wires are not close to the power wires.

So this only bothers you when? In the parking lot at full stop with the motor not running? Can you hear it when tooling around town at moderate speeds? Probably not.

There are many reasons why this occurs and we can start the path to resolving it (them?) but is it worth the effort?

If you don't hear the noise when cruising around town or at highway speeds does the noise even exist?

Only you can decide. That decision will determine the amount of time, effort, and money required to put the issue to bed.

In other words don't go looking for trouble that may not exist.

It's your call now.

exactly. I don't know about hogtunes amps but I had an annoying ground noise from my amps. I rewired everything with stinger oxygen free cables and upgraded with a 0 awg ground cable from the battery to the frame. I also have the run/brake/turn module. Now its not as noticeable. Its still there, barely, but nothing like it was. Just turn the music up or start the bike. Issue gone.
