Hi was wondering if anyone has run into this?Have 2019 street glide GTS stinger 700.4 set the gains with a digital multi meter turned volume up to 3/4 played a 1khz testone turned up gain till i got 22.4 volts. Bud bought a SMD distortion detector he came over set my gains using SMD and i was surprised how much lower the gains were compared to using Multi meter.Just wondering why big difference in the settings?Thx

Setting the gain with a MM is a crap shoot. You only see the voltage you're trying to achieve. That doesn't mean it's not clipping or distorted. Clipping and distortion kill speakers.

While voltage is important to not overdrive the watts to the speaker, an undistorted signal is a greater concern. As previously said, distortion kills a speaker quicker than higher power with a clean signal.
As John mentioned, have you flashed your head unit to a better flash for your application?
