Hi guys, not sure if I posted this in the right place...
I have a 2018 Heritage Classic. I currently have a Garmin Zumo 395 installed. I use it for the GPS function and to play tunes from an SD Card to my earbuds. I know I could just use my cell phone to do the same thing, but a bigger screen would be nice, the Zumo screen, is pretty small.
I've seen these portable Car Play screens on Amazon for motorcycles and they have an IPX rating. Anybody using one? If so, how do you like it?
I bought one from Mac Bid (discount auction site with local pickup locations). I'm going to put it on my Honda CRF250L. My friend got one for his Honda Transalp. Neither of us have got to put any miles on with them. I have one for a car mounted in my work van. It works great.
This looks like the hot setup currently & I'm thinking about getting one so I don't need my phone on my bars for navigation.
Some people will buy a rugged phone off amazon (or just use their old phone), download their maps over WIFI & use that for navigation. I tried that but the phone was so bulky it wouldn't work with my phone mount, so I had to send it back. Haven't given that a second shot yet either. One benefit of going that route, is if your primary phone breaks, you can remove your SIM card & put it in your navigation phone.
Friends who run the various Amazon car play type units on their motorcycles. All are happy with them. The screens are bigger than their phones, generally brighter, and respond better to touch than the phones do. I have not yet installed such a screen myself, but I probably will get around to it this spring or summer.
I installed one from Amazon. LMATTO 7 inch screen. I have a 2024 FLHTP. I was able to attach it to the handlebars and postion it more of less where the screen on a normal FLHT would be. Ran the power cable into the fairing thru the empty infotainment hole and wired it to the power outlet/cigarette lighter in the fairing. Looks pretty good and function is as expected. Will let you know more as I get more time with it.
I've been looking at them too. Amazing how many different units and options are out there. I've been looking at the Carpuride W702 but have not pulled the trigger.

WonVon units on Amazon have pretty good reviews and they're very inexpensive
I just bought one. Motorcycle Android Auto / Apple Car-Play 7" screen, so google maps bluetoothed with voice command for your phone with TPMS, GPS so a compass, forward and rear cameras with blind spot warning (yeah, I know) and everything the one in your car does.
They all look like the same exact one made in the same factory in China branded as a bunch of different names - Carpuride, Wonsidery, Fancytiger, Wonvon, Eonon, mine is Fuyyadas. Boy these Chinese companies really have a weird idea of what a good name in English would be.
Decided to return this - the caneras and 7" screen. Even at just 7 inches it was too big - even on my mammoth Electra Glide. Looked like Tom's above - I just thought that was too big. Bought the 5" screen with no cameras. Can go where his phone mount is - no need for it anymore, doesn't block anything. Looks much better, no bigger than a phone mount, still has the TPMS and can bluetooth from the phone safe in my pocket. Can then even Bluetooth to my 2008 Electra Glide radio - I had to add a bluetooth dongle on my radio - 3.5mm jaux jack.
No longer any chance of my phone falling out onto the pavement - that's pretty much all it does - it's just a go between your phone handlebar screen and radio. Even powers simply from my cig lighter. No wiring. $80. https://a.co/d/0dpLWvJu
Dongle $15: https://a.co/d/01VGglm3
Love the 5" - unobtrusive, does the few things I want - google maps, music from my phone, even TPMS. don't need the cameras - blind spot warning, really? Doesn't look like the backpack wearing, color coordinated leather sport bike kids. (Not that there's anything wrong with that).

Just wanted to post an update if anyone was interrested. I have been using the screen with some bone conduction earphones and hearing protection ear plugs. I like the bigger screen as it makes it easier to make the touch controls work while wearing gloves. Also the map screen is easier to read than the map screen on my phone. Overall I would say I have had a good experience with this screen. If I was doing it from scratch again I might not wire it to the power outlet. When I turn on the ignition the screen powers up, but then when I hit the start button the screen will momentarily power down and then power back up. This cause a minor problem if you stall the bike and have to restart, as it causes the screen to cycle and restart. Other than that I have had to trouble with the screen and would recommend it to someone wanting to go in this direction.

That's interesting.
I'm glad I went with one that had a second power cord that plugs into a USB, put an adapter in my cigarette lighter and I'm done. It comes on with the ignition and doesn't go off if you have to restart it. Takes about 20 to 30 seconds to connect to your phone in your pocket.
The brand is Fuyuadas on Amazon - there are so many, I chose this one because of that additional power cord. I didn't have to hardwire it to the bike and in their reviews they seemed very responsive to problems.
And they were, I couldn't connect to one of my tire pressure monitoring system valves - and they sent me another!
You know I think you can buy that USB power cord alone that hooks up to the screen - they're all the same.
I love this thing some would say if you wanted all that high-tech buy a new bike instead of a 2008.
But for a hundred bucks you can't beat it.
LOVE the tire pressure monitoring system - you can even set .warnings for different air pressures. No reason to get on your hands and knees now.
Voice control is great and phone calls- even with the engine running but if you don't have an unlimited plan you'll sure eat up your data on that Amazon music streaming real quick.
