Default Same old audio question

Alright.............Just ordered my anniversary Ultra Limited for 2013 from Milwaukee Harley. By the way if anyone ever has the chance to buy from these guys it was the most painless, and easiest deal I have ever done. Hands down these guys rock. Anyway I want to upgrade the audio first before anything else. Yes I know some people will disagree but having owned 4 previous Harley's this is the route I want to go. Been looking at a new amp, speakers for the fairing, lower fairing and to replace the tour pak speakers. I am going to add the ipod interface from ironcross but what suggestions can people recommend? I like J&M but that will set me back $2K. Heard good things about the Harley brand (Boom) but I just wanted to hear what others have done. Any input would be greatly appreciated.............

Instead of buying the ipod interface, just go with a head unit with ipod controls. Better sound and less $$.

I understand the Ipod control needs, but you could simply plug the Ipod in using the AUX In on the new radios. Controlling it would be a different matter. Some mount right to the handlebars for close up control of the unit itself.

For one he wouldn't be able to control it other than volume.

Secondly, he will be using the DAC in the HK head unit, which means crappy sound. Best bet is to replace the stock head unit.

Well if he can buy a new 2013 I guess another few $$$$ on a better sound system is the way to go and get all the bells, whistles and Bluetooth.

Me, I really like my new JVC head unit. Controls all "I" items with the main unit.

I typically just use the USB connects so I don't have to carry my I-pod .... they are so easy to loose, especially the one's with the Harley Logo which I believe come with every new Harley with a built in sound system.

I won mine 2 years ago as a door prize to come and take a test ride. I was told not many of the 8G Pods with the Harley Logo were given out.... it was the top prize!

I am in the same boat. I'm looking at the J&M 7.25 Rokker XT's for the fairing, the XT's for the passenger pods and J&M's 250 watt amp. All of this from direct cycle parts is around 750.00.

Not sure what your budget is on this project, but if you are going to do it do it RIGHT THE FIRST TIME and be done with it. I would go with a strong set of 6.5 components you pick the brand Hertz, Focal, Boston Acoustic up front. Then do 6.5 coaxial's in your rear pods, lastly cycle sounds quad lids with 2 6x9's in each lid total 8 speakers and a 4 channel amp to run it all .. Do not go with the pbr to run this set up.. You will enjoy it and your passenger. Mount amp in bag and still have space for other stuff. Not to mention tour PAC just my 02 cents.

I go back and forth on rear speakers. The wife says the Pods on the tour pak will take up her space and when riding 2 up the rider blocks the sound.

I'd like to turn the tour pak into a woofer box...lol.

I really like the speaker set up with the angled speaker off the front corner of the bag lids on the new CVOs.

If I put in an amp it would have to fit in the fairing because I really need all the storage space when traveling.

Using the lowers for speakers is nice too I've seen huge woofers in there that add so much sound.

Good luck narrowing down and getting it set up.
