Installed my polks last weekend noticed that one speaker was cutting out. I pulled the fairing and noticed the speaker sounds loose. Good part is amazon already gave me a rma and I ordered a new set. Hope to have the new ones tuesday. Amazon upgraded my shipping to 2 days. Global fulfilled the order.
I got a new pair of Polks from Amazon Monday, after calling them Saturday and getting an immediate credit. I then re-ordered and Amazon upgraded my shipping to 2 days.
When i put in the new speaker ( only replaced the one that was fading) what a difference, I think the one speaker was DOA. I even turned my gains back to 1100 and have plenty of volume now.
There's something weird going on with the latest batch of 651s, IMO. Mine were put in over a year ago and they are fine, but lots of complaints recently...wazzup with that?

primetime thanks for your comment, but I did read and re-read. My point was that I had the gains up to 1300 and still no distortion. When I replaced the bad speaker, I got so much volume that I backed the gain down.

When I set my gain I had it on the lowest setting and cranked the volume and could damn near hear a slight distortion, I'm just confused why a guy would want to crank the gain up and then accidently crank the volume while cruising hwy speeds and then POP there goes a speaker! I'm just pointing that aspect out
