Default Fairing speaker thoughts

Been working on upgrading my stereo. Got the new deck installed and connected to my Arc 125.2. Wrapped the Peerless Definition 6.5" components speaks in polyfil. Pre-wired for adding pods to the tour pak (expecting them tomorrow or Wed.) and will be adding a SS PN2.350 and a pair of Polk 6.5s in the pods.

After doing all this, I'm not as thrilled with the Peerless as I was when I installed them. Maybe it's the tweeters, maybe it's the stock bars right in the middle of the midbass, but they just seem tired. I love the extra pop the tweets give to the music, so I'm convinced I want to stick with comps in the fairing.

I'm not seeing a ton of options for 2/2.7 ohm comps (Peerless are 2.7). I know the Polks are likely my closest match for the pod speaks, but I'd appreciate feedback on what you're running for comps in the fairing.

Thanks in advance!
Rick

I'm running JL C2s components but they are 4 ohm. If ya don't like Polks, JBL/Infinity have some nice 2 ohm 6.5" components.

I am running the Polk 651mm's and the RF 300x2 amp and I am very happy with them. granted at 65 you don't hear a lot of bass but you can hear the mids and highs quite well. ask UltraNuts he can help you with your audio choices as he has with many others here.

There are not a lot of choices if you are wanting to stay with comp's that are 2.7 Ohm or less.
There are but you need to keep in mind the size of the crossovers and where you are going to put them.

Polk mm6501 sounds like the best option to me. that is what I am running and I love em!

Here is a video showing the complete set-up with the Polk's They look like mm651's but are actually mm6501's. I mounted the tweeters in the center of the grills to keep from having to mount them separately and it worked out great!

Here is a picture on the grills I modified............

If you want one of the best 6.5" speakers ever made? I have a set of Boston Acoustics SPZ components for sale.

These speakers retailed for around $950 or more back in the day. I had them installed in the upper fairing for a while and they sounded better than the Polk mm6501's.
But the crossover for the SPZ speakers is the largest crossover I have ever seen for a 6.5" speaker! I had them crammed in the fairing but I decided to go back with the Polk's.
They just took up too much space for my set-up.

Here is a picture of them. They are for sale CHEAP if you want them.

That is AWESOME! Unfortunately, I'd need to stash the crossovers in the bags and run 20' of cable to use them!

On the other hand, I am in the process of building a go kart with my nephew and I'm sure he wouldn't mind adjusting the design...

I just re-read your post and am wondering how you installed those crossovers?
