Default No Sound HELP!!

New radio and Biketronics installed. Everything went well and according to instructions. Hook the battery back up and turn the ignition over to accessory. the Radio lights up and goes through it's boot up process. Go through a few hand control checks.

Flip it to tuner and no sound of any kind. Volume up, volume down nothing. Try another station. Nothing.

Throw the iPod in the tune tray. Starts playing first song on the screen. Again, no sound.

I proceeded to double check all of my connections and everything is exactly as instructed.

Bike is '06 CVO Ultra. Radio is a Sony DSX310BTX and using the correct Biketronics unit.

Any thoughts would be appreciated as Biketronics is closed until Monday.

Thanks

CVO's are a totally different animal compared to regular touring bikes. I don't know much about them. Wish I could help but Biketronics will probably know what to do.

Thanks for chiming in Pioneer74.

Biketronics actually called me after I placed my order to confirm what bike I had too. If it has to wait until Monday so be it. With 2-3 feet of snow still on the ground the bike isn't going anywhere soon...

An additional note. In the Biketronics kit there's a set of pins for the rear speakers that plug into one of the factory radio plugs.

I grabbed some speaker wire I had sitting around and made a simple jumper from one of the sets of pins and ran it over to one of the fairing speakers. Turned the radio on and I got sound.

In looking over the wiring diagram in the supplemental service manual and from what I can see as well it appears all of the speakers run to the factory amp under the tourpack. I suspect that as that's not receiving any power via the CAN BUS from the factory head unit it also will not allow for a passthrough signal to the speakers. At least it makes sense to me...

I hope Biketronics has some workaround as I do not see any way to send a power on command to that factory amp.

Welp, just got off the phone with the fine folks over at Biketronics tech support. Gave them my scenario and it was pretty cut and dry. I have two options. One, wire from the new Sony to all four speakers and completely bypass the stock wiring or two, drop in an amp and do the same thing from there.

I suspected this would be the case as there is no reasonable way to get the CVO amp to play nice with the aftermarket equipment.

So this morning I ordered the Soundstream PN4.520D amp and 10Ga. amp wiring kit. Now comes the decision of replacing the Hogtunes 2ohm speakers I have at all 4 corners or do leave them for now and be careful with the volume control.

The Soundstream is a nice amp. Puts out a lot of power for not a lot of money. Just be aware that it will affect your FM reception.
