You're missing the point of the thread here. What I'm saying is, if you burn the CD as a data disc and burn the files to the CD as MP3 files intead of converting them, you can fit a TON more on there.
I will likely swap out the HK eventually and put something a little more up to date in it, but in the meantime, This is cool.
Ok. . . Fair enough. As you stated "Most folks don't even know it's possible" I guess I'm one of those folks. I've never seen a quality CD with more than 20 songs on it. But that's just me. This is what I know. . . Most CD's hold 700MB of data or about 80 minutes of music. The more songs you compress into those 80 minutes the more your sound quality will suffer. That said, even though it may be possible, The question becomes how much SQ do I really want to lose in a motorcycle environment that is non condusive to SQ by nature? That's my .02. All I can do is hope I'm not missing the point again. . lol
Good quality in an MP3 format is 256 to 320 kbps bit rate which results in larger files but excellent quality sound. Bit rates for comparison are like camera pixels. The more pixels the better the image. Same principle with music. Like I was explaining to Harleydodge. if you record music on a CD at a 320 bit rate (Which is excellent by the way) only so many songs will fit on the CD due it's larger size. You figure each song is about 4 minutes and the CD is only 80 minutes long. If you minimize the bit rate you can get more songs on the CD but the SQ will suffer drastically. Hence why some guys have all the right components, i.e., great speakers, great amp etc., But the music sounds like crap from the source.
Well That last Cd I burned was a mix of 192 and 320 kp it held 81 songs about 4 hours of listening. and I feel about 75 mile ah hour it would be hard to hear the difference over 128 kp. but I am old and I am sure there are a few who claim they can. just saying.

Very True! I can't tell the difference either at 75 mph. . . I just like to debate. . . .lol
However, You can tell the difference if the bike is sitting still in the garage. Even us old men! I run a USB with 2000 songs on it. The CD never held enough songs for me on long trips. I got tired of changing CD's. I like the tune tray, bluetooth and pandora radio much better!
