Good riddance Deeley
Just last Saturday in the business section of the Toronto Star was a half page ad from the new HD Canada organization looking for folks interested in opening up new dealerships. When have we ever seen that ??
From what I understand from a pal who works for HD Canada, the new Managing Director here in Canada, Mr. Anoop Prakash (formerly HD India) is a very aggressive businessman who wants to get things moving again here in the Great White North.
Advertising for new dealers might just be step one. Should be interesting to see how things shake out next spring when the season starts up. Unfortunately, we're still saddled with an almost 25% exchange rate. Great for exports, not so great for imports.
Hopefully, the move from Deeley will be a change for the better.

The Canadian $ is tanking right now. Canadians might want to buy more Harleys, but the price is prohibitive and a lot of people are losing their jobs (you know, the jobs that actually pay a decent wage). So no matter what, I don't see a bright future for Harley Davidson in Canada unless the U.S. dollar tanks again, and that won't happen anytime soon.
Soo, I see Triumph doing well in the large classic bike arena, perhaps the Japs in sport bikes, but I really see the Chinese making huge gains in the smaller bike area, like wiping Honda out.
