You're right, they won't be missed at all because nothing will change as far as the Canadian consumer is concerned.Prices will not fall, availability will not change, dealerships will continue with business as usual. The only change is we will be complaining about HD directly instead of blaming the Deeley organization...

I'm afraid that your right. I'm not one for middle-men that do nothing, but any savings will be scooped up by the H-D dealerships before it ever gets to the customer.

You think the mothership will push the Canadian government to stop U.S imports like Deeley did? I doubt it. Canada is one of the few countries where sales decreased last year. I expect prices to come in line with the exchage rate without the added Deely tax. Why bother eliminating the middle man if they're happy with the way things are?

Canadian dealerships are sitting on a lot of old inventory that hasn't moved mostly because of price. Victory, Indian, BMW Triumph all saw growth in Canada last year, HD went backwards. There were months last year where Triumph out sold Suzuki in Canada. Working in the industry I personally see this move as being a benefit to the consumer. At the end of the day it's all about moving units.

I have no doubt that folks that own Canadian dealerships see Deeley the same way as a lot of Canadian consumers do. Crooks that take their unfair share.

Better hope that prices DON'T come in line with the exchange rate. With our dollar worth 80 cents US, bikes are actually cheaper here than they are in the States. I posted an example in another thread on this subject. For a '15 Street Glide Special, the price here is several hundred dollars US lower....strange but true!

Default yes good by Deeley

As most things, upon initiation the intent is pure and along the way gets tarnished. I think upon inception back in like 1917 Deeley may have been playing a significant role in the pursuit of putting motorcycling and motorcycles on the map in Canada, however along the way for whatever reason (usually cash) things go bad. As Deeley has all Harley dealerships conform or loose franchise rights the second ever dealership in Canada Poole's currently out of Hamilton cannot afford the move or the revamp and thus looses their rights as a dealership! Too bad for a still family run business. Harley Davidson and motorcycling is a brotherhood/sisterhood, like a family we make efforts to take care of our own and seeing Deeley leave this dealership out in the cold and yank a license just seems off to me at least. I'm sure they won't be hurtin' but maybe the uniqueness that helped HD last through the years will make positive changes for the dealerships we enjoy supporting, visiting and meeting at.

So Deeley is gone, the Canadian dollar has tanked yet 2016 models are cheaper than 2015 models. I'll say it again, good riddance Deeley.

Talking to one of the owners at my local dealership yesterday, he said they couldn't be happier that Deeley is out of the picture now.

Price of a new SGS has dropped $1,000 compared to last year, new Limited is nearly $1,400 less.

Everytime I priced out parts the dealership blamed the high prices on Deely as to why they couldn't give any discounts after you had just spent $25,000.00 on a new ride. Be interesting to see if anything changes here.
