You can try it but it’s not worth it, border patrol and customs agents are not Police.
I don’t know if you ever crossed borders before but they can do stuff that police can’t and can just add hours of hassle for no reason. And you are definitely giving them a reason.

I lived on the border for 60 years, my username is from Paintball.
I played semi professional paintball since the 80’s and over my many years played for two different Canadian teams, so I have crossed the border a lot.
We even know some of the customs agents, it’s a popular summer job for teachers.
The early days of a bunch of guys crossing with air guns was not fun, they would bring us inside and interview the crap out us separately, go through all the gear bags etc. we never had the car really tossed with the dogs and pulling the door panels off etc. but even that would add hour or more of not driving but stuck there.
But I remember as kid crossing with my parents and they would confiscate random fruits or vegetables because county of origin, legal in the US was not allowed in Canada.

Done the ride a couple times nice. Get some alcohol at duty free store. If you can stay in US as much as possible to save money. Going east out of Wawa is long stretch without gas.
