I'm trying to get hold of a copy of Bruce Palmers book "How to restore your military harley davidson". Have searched here in the UK and the only 1 available is through Amazon, but they want £400 for it.
I tried to locate it. Amazon has a copy for 183.00 USD. I went to the publishers web site and it is not listed. May be out of print. Here is the contact info for the publisher.

Paul, if you can't locate a copy or it proves too expensive at the moment, let me know. I have some, but not all, photocopied info from that book and I could scan some of it for you. As you may be aware, there were several types of 42WLA. Which type do you have? If you're not sure, just post the approximate range of your serial number, for example: 17000-18000. Then I can figure out what type you have. Eric
Paul, I tried two emails but both returned as undeliverable. Reason given: 5.1.0 - Unknown address error 550 - Mailbox not found. My full-page scans didn't work out that good so I trimmed them to segments and I'll post them via several replies. Hope that's okay.
