Insurance Question

My father in law has purchased a custom Harley but doesn't know what to call it for insurance purposes. The logbook says sportster but it's obviously not any more. It was a US import with 1600 engine. Any advice?

Looks like a Sportster to me. {engine and trans is,the rest is aftermarket.Why not call it a Sportster?

OK thanks he was worried that insurance may be invalid due to it being so heavily customised but registered as a Sportster.

The insurance will not be invalid...but if it is totaled or stolen, they are only going to give you book sportster value...not a penny for any of you mods. You need to add insurance for add-ons, or have it appraised and insured at a stated value.
