In general, Primo is about the best stuff available. Expensive, but if that's your deal so be it.
Why not just run an inclosed primary with a nice engraved cover? Just curious.

i run a bdl, there cheap. i put a engraved outside cover on it and a bullet proof jackshaft, so it would not grind, and thats good. if i would of had the money id would of gone with primo.

I would make sure to get a belt shrowd for a number of reasons. Protect pant legs and minimize debree. I ran a 3 inch open on my 63 FL for ever (many years) forget which one now as its been a while and the bike is gone. White Brothers I think.

I have an 84 FL here with the 3 1/2" setup on it with the outboard bearings. It is a very smooth setup. Heavy for sure. Much quieter than my BDL. Better feel on the clutch lever with the Primo over the BDL.

Run a Primo 3" open, wear boots always! Don't wear real loose jeans either! Hooks up real nice running 230 Avon rear.
