I have a custom paint shop and mostly do cars. Every now and then we get a bike to do. We just got in a 84 electra glide classic. The owner want to redo all the body parts as they looked from the factory. He wants to put them to the side just in case he wants to go back to original. He also wants us to change the look of the bike and do some custom paint work on another set of body parts. He wants it to look diffrent then stock. Any ideas on what will look cool and fit this bike? He want to go without the turing package. We can do some crazy paint/art work on it but need some help on what we can do to change the apperence of the bike for him. Not sure what year body parts will fit or if there are any custom tins for this year. Any help will be great.
if i was you i would reglass everything give it more of a flow than box look fiberglass is super easy to work with if you can make some molds... plus then you can make it functional and practical as well if you where to add more to the ends of the fairing and loover it out or wing it out... man lots of cool things you can do with that
So, JRK, I take it that during the cafe build you added custom fiberglass to list of ever expanding skills? That's awsome, maybe apply some of that towards the GW? But JRK makes a good point, if you are going to lay a wicked custem spray job, wouldn't it look a lot better on custom farings and bags?
ahh i have been playing with fiberglass for years with custom sub enclosures... but ya... on the cafe i glassed my own seat...the new wing will get custom bags and front fairing of course to have more of a sleeker look all the while adding better wind protection! it will be all looks and function not so much more space for the bags as the storage will all stay the same, just the outside shape will clean up a bit more!
I will be checking that thread regularly as all of your custom projects are awesome to watch happen. Did you ever post pictures of that cafe completed?
