Most factory chopper owners I have heard about have trouble getting warranty work done, unlike Harley.

That being said I just bought a 2003 AIH Texas Chopper with 4K miles for 12K out the door. I looked at used Harleys that were about 12K but then to really make it what I wanted I would wind up putting another 6-8K into it. I am pretty happy with the Texas Chopper but it is what it is, I don't ride it during the week (I drive a county issued cage to and from work). I live in Central Florida and I don't ever anticipate riding farther than Tampa, Jacksonville or Daytona. As a wise old Paratrooper once told me, "find something you like to ride and tell everyone else to F*ck off! Because there will always be someone who doesn't like what you ride".
$12k for an 03 Texas Chopper is no deal. you could have gotten an 05 or newer for that price, and had the bigger 111 motor, RSD, and the bigger 280 rear tire, along with other improvements. but good luck with it anyway.

I'm glad you are happy with the bike. I loved my 04 Texas Chopper, and still love my 05 LSC. My point was not to tell you that your deal was not that great, but to let the rest of the community know there are really great deals to be found out there. I wish the Ironhorse bikes held more value then they do, but the fact is you can get even their latest models for about $15k now. I paid full price for my 04 in the late part of 2003, but paid a little less then half price for my 05 in 2007. Now they are even cheaper.

Well, that is the issue isn't it? I love Harleys, and it's not just for the name or the mystique, or whatever. Having said that, there's something really special about a 127 cubic inch engine, isn't there? I think so.

No custom compares to Harley. At all. On any level. They're all mostly made of aftermarket junk with a few "one off" parts if your lucky and painted to catch your attention. Some are nice but only an idiot would think ome is a step up.

You are 100% correct, the Ironhorses are really taking a beating on holding their value. Not sure what part of the country you are in but here in Florida, the later model Texas Choppers are going for $15-20K.
