I'm looking at a 1965 Sportster XLCH chopped custom...Springer front-end, rigid frame, Ironhead 900...custom flamed paint, spoked wheels, good condition. What would be a good offer?
Howdy TightHead, I wish you had detailed pictures and drivetrain modifications if any. It's difficult to guestimate a value, without details and location. Both need to be taken in to consideration.
Value is such a funny word. I think a better question would be what are you willing to pay for it? If you're worried about being ripped off then you need to set the amount that you're willing to pay for it without feeling that you might be getting ripped off. Even if you spent $10,000 on it, as long as you feel good about it then that's what counts. Of course, that might suggest that you need to do a little more research but realistically you need to know your definition of value.
I'm guessing it runs well,is painted nice etc. figure between 3 to 6 grand(even more if its cherried out.Cant even find a basket case out west here for 1500$.
Tighthead, I usually use the original purchase price at date of manufacture as a guideline for a decent but not customized used bike, in the 20 to 30 year old range.
