I didn't know where else to put this. I am looking to build a bike and need opinions an advice. I am starting with a Harley engine and build the bike around it. My question is what engine to start with. I Have a 8000 budget for the engine. If it doesn't all get used that's fine. I want to stay naturually aspirated. I was wondering about stroking. I love the idea of it but I don't know what's good and what's not. I am also open to other ideas. I am a speed freak. I have gone 120 on a four wheeler and 130 on a bike not to mention cars. It will be a daily ridden weekend racer though so I don't want to go over board but I want to be able to screw with jap bikes. Any help would be great. I am also a fan of older engines as well and would prefer using one. I also am leaning towards a baker transmission.

If you want to be able to "screw" with jap bikes (especially the crotch rocket variety) you may want to rethink the naturally aspirated part...even then, it prolly wouldn't be enough. I love my Harleys but, most of the jap bikes out there will blow HD's into the weeds...stock but, of course, they don't have any soul.
I know I'll never get a Harley engine that'll outrun a jap bike but most guys I know with em won't take em past 130 around here and I'm really just looking to keep up with them well. I'm shooting for 150 with quick acceleration. If that ain't possible then I'll get as close as possible or maybe look at aftermarket engine companies, like s&s.
