What’s up dude? Some people have told me in another thread that you may have the knowledge to solve my problem.
Here is the deal:
I took the bike it to a carwash (they do bike wash 2) and they washed while still a little bit hot, and I dont know what kind of product they used. The exhaust shield is now with stains. I thought the would come out with a regular wash, but they didnt. Wd40 didnt help either.
First you need to find out what the heat shield is coated with. Might have to contact HD to find out. After you find that out you will need to find a cleaner that is safe to use on it but able to remove the stains.
How noticeable is it in person? If its real bad then you have nothing to lose and can go straight to something strong to get rid of the stains.
Either way, be ready to replace the part(s)
I called a service advisor in HD and he said it doesnt have any special powder coating, but I felt the guy was not very confident of what he was saying.
Well Im not going to suggest anything, dont want to steer you the wrong way.
If this was my bike I would do some research on cleaning exhaust pipes. Im not sure regular powder coating would last with the heat coming off of it.
If you find out something to try, definitely try it in a non-visible spot first.
