Hello, all! Working through an 08 flhrci I picked up recently. As I get this this recovered from an outdoor life, I find myself wondering what is good to use on the inside of the fenders to clean up the grime and protect from rust?
because most of the stuff I polished on my bike was pulled, cleaned, polished, and coated on a bench, it was nothing to clean and coat the inside of the fenders
I cleaned the underside of these fenders like I was prepping it to be polished and even did a light hand polish with Wolfgang's finishing glaze....then I prepped em and coated them with the rest of the part once i got the top side corrected and ready for an LSP
I did this once, and never did it again, even when the bike got a second coating on it
As for maintaining it afterward, i used something similar to this
when I wash the bike I start with the undersides of the fenders and this brush, then I wash the rubber tires....i don't give two ***** about clean rubber, but when I'm working on the tires, i touch the rubber and then touch my rims and other parts of the bike, so i clean them with old rags and just hot water....so the order for me is underside of fenders, rubber, rims
Thank you both! I will probably end up pulling the fenders next rain spell. May as well get a good coating in there to keep the rust from setting in. This will likely start with a pressure washing since it'll get resealed anyway...
