If you use rain-x on a harley windshield in your future you will be buying a new windshield because rain-x will ruin it. Harley does sell a product similiar to rain x that is safe for there windshields but it is pricey,so to say again DO NOT USE RAIN X.......

To texas tom, how and or why does rain-x ruin the windshield? Aside from what we can purchase from the stealership what else might work?

Do Not Use Them On Sun Glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!
Had a friend who got smart, put em' on his shades. He looked real cool in the rain with his glasses off & rubbing the rain-X out of his eyes.

The original Rain X is for glass. It can not be used on the harley shields or Lexan. Rain X makes another product that is for plastic. Use that or the Harley stuff. Do not use the original Rain X on plastic items.

Lemon Pledge supposedly works well on HD Windshields. On my stock HD Shield I used regular old car wax and a very soft towel. Did not scratch it, and cleaned the surface enuff that rain (for the most part) beaded up and rolled off.

As stated above, never use Rain-X. I likePlexus. It's a great cleaner/polish, and once it's applied, cleaning bugs, etc. in the future is much easier. Plexus works great on helmet visors, too.

If you want to use rain x - you can on the above windshileds. I use Plexus all the time - I carry it in my tour pak and I use it on my helmet visor.

I used rain-x on my windsheild and almost lost it. I called the company and they told me to get a plastic polishing compound. Rain-x now has a product for plastic. There are some other very good products out for plastic windsheilds.
