Default Powder Coating question

I'm thinking of get my rims done in red. If I strip the wheels down can the powder coat go straight onto the chrome or does it need to be scuffed up for the PC to stick?

Alternatively if I decided to have the whole wheel done can it be done as one piece? Presume I'd need to take the bearings out and have that area masked off?

I've done this project a few times. The powdercoater will sandblast the parts before powder, so you don't have to. I always prefer to disassemble the wheels, have the hubs and rims done, and then reassemble so I have powdered rims and hubs with silver spokes. I don't have any pics of the red ones I did about 10 years ago, but here are some black ones that I did.

it depends on the chrome, either way the whole process we do is handled in house. some chrome sucks and has to be removed to give you a good surface, while other chrome is done very nice and you can profile it and coat away. each part is different, we are a site sponsor and happy to help with any of your coating needs

The Powder Pro does excellent work. Had my front end done and will be sending more parts in the future.

Those rims and hubs in my two pictures above were done by Joe the Powder Pro. Excellent work.

Thanks for the replies. I'd love to have Joe do my powder coating but being based in the UK it's not really an option.
