FXDX Help
Hey
First post but been lurking for a while. So im thinking about buying an 02 Fxdx with 30000 miles, the dealer is asking $6995. First question is deal or no deal? Next would be any concerns for that model year and bike? Thanks to all in advance and i look forward to the help.

Depends what you want to do with it; as a base for a club style Dyna that has decent suspension; it's second only to the FXDXT in my books...last year timken, iffy timing chain, hope it's NOT EFI...HD will likely never make a bike with shocks and forks like these again. Any pics???

Great bike and price is reasonable in my area, definitely have the Cam chain tensioners checked BEFORE buying this bike with those miles, can be quite costly to fix , unless you are able to do the work yourself

You are going to need cam chain tensioners probably right away with that mileage so budget $1000 for that. Price is not bad. Post a pic. 02 is a good year also. I had an 02 I bought with 33k on the clock and It needed tensioner immediately. Aside from that it was a great bike and I built it how I wanted it. Sold it last year.

Yeah, I'd almost definitely give that deal a thumbs up! So long as there's nothing obviously wrong... As stated, tensioners will be an issue if they've not been dealt with. It's a carb'd bike, as I don't believe EFI was an option on these bikes until 04-5.

I have and 02 FXDX with 12k miles. I am the second owner, almost new. I use it as an around town bike, very good ride. I would say that is a good deal if the bike is in good condition. I could not get to the site to look. I have considered selling, but not at that price. Jim

The previous owner must have been a performance type guy since it has floating rotors, SE heads, Mikuni, and S&S mufflers. Bet it has a cam and a 95" kit in it too. IF done right that's a 100 HP bike. If you are really lucky it has gear drive cams. I don't know so much about that goofy looking air cleaner though. A SE heavy breather would do much better. I'd buy it if i didn't already have one.
