14 Fat Bob with V&H 3" slip-ons. Must I have the ECM reprogrammed? Can't afford both V&H and a high flow air cleaner at the moment. Any pros or cons just installing the slip-ons?
HD canned map is a JOKE DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY, increase rev limit is not a tune it is a half *** attempt at jacking poeples money. Just pipes no intake your cool, and vice versa, if you run both get a real tuner and run a canned map, dyno if you do internals like cams and head work. do not use the SE map HD will try and sell you. JUNK *** tune

Thanks for your insight guys. I don't plan on doing any internal work on the bike. I mostly want a better sound for not too much money. Maybe after the bike comes off of warranty, I might buy a set of Roland Sands pipes, and a free flowing air cleaner and then I will do the remap thing to get a few more horses and torque.
Everything I've read - just pipes, no tune required. Pipes and stage 1 intake tune required. Stage 1 intake and no pipes - tune recommended. Watch for bluing on the headers - an indication of running too hot.
I am not a big fan of the VIED or XIED's as they don't do much if anything in the open loop section of your stock tune. What these devices do is adjust the bias voltage from the O2 Sensor to effect a slightly richer AFR in closed loop. And slightly richer AFR is a good thing even in a totally stock bike. It amounts to a half a$$ed way to get the bike to run richer and hence maybe some better performance and a cooler motor. If you was to do nothing else to your bike i say at least do that to it. I am not sure if the 2014 ecm still reads 14:68 as the stoich AFR but if it does that s bad !!! Most places i see have 10% ethanol blend in there gasoline now and that alone drops the stoich down to 14:1 So it be running very lean if you do not.
Again guy, thanks for the input. This is my first American bike and the first with FI so the terminology is confusing to me, especially VIED/XIED. I have no idea what that is. I guess I should just go ahead and purchase a free flowing air cleaner, have the ECM reprogrammed and be done with it. I have a lot more reading to do so I can become more educated about this whole ECM programming thing.
