Nice. Fatbob's a great bike. Funny, this is maybe the only other one I've seen with red rims since I painted mine in 2009...and it's probably one of the first things you're going to change. Ha! Enjoy the bike and the modding. Sometimes you can't have enough of a good thing...

I feel the same way about FXR's. I always want another...

Love the bike! Hate the bars and red rims! They'd be the first thing to go. For $8500, I think you did great.

Other than the bars, I kinda like that. The rear tire needs a whitewall, though. Red rims without the whitewalls looks a little wrong.

What's the plan?

I'd love to see someone strip down a fatbob to a real "bobber" with a peanut tank and drag bars.

Congrats! No offense, but please tell me your going to change the wheels. Bright red wheels don't look good on a bike in my opinion, unless its a dirt bike.

Thanks for all the comments and suggestions. I love it! I DO have a lot of ideas swirling around with what direction to go. One thing I noticed when I took her out for a spin is that riding with those monster high apes on there, it kinda gives you an "attitude". I glance over at the shadow while cruising and I gotta say, it's kinda bad@$$ looking. NOT that I'm going to keep them on there, just sayin'...

Thingfish, You're right, I hadn't seen another bike with the red wheel setup either. Question: is there some reason that only the front tire is a whitewall? This bike I have is setup the same way. Does it make me extra cool? JK.

c-note: I do like the idea of making a stripped down "rideable" bobber out of it. Who knows? It's all about the journey anyways.

Haha! Front white wall is easily 3X cooler

I noticed that he had the same dang front WW too! The '09 had notorious cupping with the stock Dunlop's so after my second replacement I decided to try a different tire and found the Road King tires fit our bike. Just for laughs I decided to try the White Wall and I liked it. I've toyed around with swapping the rear too, but it hasn't worn out yet (I had just replaced it at 15K when I did the front, now have 27k so it's almost done). I know it's a little funky and I may still swap the rear eventually....or go back to black. The red wheel were always intended as a backyard experiment...but I wound up liking that too. I know very few others do and IMO it does look the best with spokes, but so far I still enjoy it. Too much black gets old for me and I've blacked out a lot of the rest of the bike.

The red tank badges and plug wires kinda pull it all together (or turn it into a circus wagon clown car depending on your taste). The dude abides. Some how they just wound up fitting the "get up and go" personality of the bike.

I like the red rims best when they are a little darker with road grime, which mine usually are.

One way I look at the single white wall - friendly in the front, nasty in the back.

I know what you mean about the apes too. Those are damn tall, but the apes on my 72 change everything.
