Hey guys I had a bunch of backfiring issues with my 95 wide glide and spent a lot of money trying to figure it out... no luck, So I bought a 2013 Wide Glide Big Blue Pearl with a stage 2 down load V&H Big Radius pipes and I put put a few extras on as well. But my question is I want to rake it 9-14 degrees with a Chopper Kits rake kit?? what do you guys think? I have not seen a 2013 Wide Glide raked for one and think it would look bad a$$, and #2 will the kit do as advertised as far as allowing the bike to handle the same or better than factory?? Any info would be great. and I have no damn clue how to post pics of my old and new bike on here...Very computer illiterate,,
For my taste, an added 9 to 14 degrees would be too much on a bike which is already starting with about 35. A total of 40 or so might look OK. Beyond that, I think it starts to look a little goofy and outdated. It also gets increasingly hard to make tight, low-speed turns, if that matters to you.
One other thing: The more you lay telescopic forks down, the worse they do at absorbing bumps.

It will look nice, but not be something that is fun to ride in stop-n-go traffic. Also wont handle as well in the twisties, if thats your thing. if you are building a bar hopper...then go for it!
I think it looks good on some bikes but not the newer wide glides. An old buddy had his sportster raked and a bunch of work done. Now it looked really good.
no. i am not building a bar hopper or a putt around bike thats for sure, my wife and I go for fairly long rides when the weather permits. We are heading to Daytona tomorrow for Bike Week. I had talked to the guys that designed the rake kits on the above mentioned link and they told me nothing changes because the kits are designed to keep the geometry of the rake and trail the same so the high speed handling and low speed turning would NOT be effected with the use of their kits GUARANTEED.... I don't want to jack up my bike because it handles good now, but i do like the stretched out look with the long headlight up front!! But I am defiantly listening to what you guys have to say.

Reason: left out some information
I like the 34 it comes with. It's a nice meeting of looks and handling. Anything over 40 will be a pain to ride at slow speeds and, imo, doesn't look all that great. But to each his own, so if you want it, then do it.
