Soooo I bought my bike in Oakland, CA, it was used. I think the previous owner put a stage one air cleaner (I think) and I put pipes (Samson Street Sweepers) never tuned as I didn't touch the air cleaner. Moved to Reno, NV. I have noticed a difference in performance. I know when one gos to higher elevations the thinner air effects the motor. Should I have the bike tuned, would that help?
And on a separate but relevant side question. Thought about taking out the baffles for a louder bike. Thoughts? Thank you one and all.
I would tune it since it's never been done. If you had a tune done and bike ran good at the lower elevation I would think the bike would compensate and a retune wouldn't be necessary. Get yourself a TTS or Power Vision and tune it. Pulling baffles out is only going to make it run worse. :-))). If you need help with tuning hit me up as I'm in reno as well.

I would definitely go with a tuner. Normally when u just change one thing like the pipes you don't have to have a tuner, but in your case you don't know if the Air Cleaner is stage 1, but you believe it is. A lot of people use a tuner even just changing one thing, as harley's come from the factory lean. Devin and Kevin(DK) use the Power Vision and are completely happy with it. One of the many great things about the Power Vision is it comes delivered to you with a Custom Map, for Your Bike, already installed in it. You can plug it in, load the new tune into your bike, unplug it, and be riding with the New Tune in 5 minutes. For more of a budget solution you could go with something like the Xied's. We have had reports of many people being happy with those also.
If you are looking to make your bike louder and are taking out the baffels you could go with something like the Thunder Torque Inserts. These Increase Low & Mid Range Torque and are made especially for slip-ons. With these you can adjust the sound and volume to get the sound that you like best. Hope this helps out
