Default Will it overheat?

Fairly new owner of 06 Low Rider here. Before this week all rides were in cold weather.

Brought the bike down to FL for spring break vacation. Today was 80 degrees outside. Lots of bumper to bumper traffic, bike got pretty hot. Seemed like idle started surging a little bit right before i finally got to get back into the wind a little bit. Will a correctly functioning bike overheat and cause damage since its only air cooled?

No. I've been in bumper-to-bumper traffic in 90+ degree weather in 90+ percent humidity. I will shut her down if I am really just stuck going no where. Last year I was in stop-and-go traffic when it was 85 degrees and humid out. She didn't lug but I shut her down when I could anyway. If your bike is functioning properly and you keep the oil level where it should be you should not have any problems in only 80 degree weather.

Just check your oil. It's not solely air-cooled - oil cools it as well. As long as there's enough that the oil has time to sit in the oil tank and cool down before it gets thrown back into the engine, it'll dissipate a good amount of heat.

That bike will take more abuse than you will, guaranteed.

You don't want to sit in traffic and rev your engine. Just let it idle.
