Default FXDX trouble codes

Hi all
My 2001 Dyna FXDX Super Sport (Carb) decided to spit the dummy on a run last year. Would start and run for a bit then run out of sparks and stop, after a while it would re-start run for about a minute, then stop sparking again. I changed the coil as it seemed the cheapest place to start but no change so I parked it up for winter. Dragging it out and having another look, now it wont start or spark at all I bought and fitted a new ECM but no change so I decided to try and fault find before throwing any more cash at it. Reconnecting the old ECM, I applied the jumper between 1&2 pin in scan plug and watched the sequence. 6 fast flashes being clear, I got the following codes: 16 41 42 44 56 The speedo readout said d01clr do2set (do3 thru do9 clr) and do10set Then Cal09 After messing about with the trip-meter button in various ways to try and get into menu's suggested on the forum I ended up with all do numbers showing clr. I've tried searching all the forums and although various hints crop up on many of the forums it seems as though only the 2000-2001 FXDX has these codes and although there are a few questions, most threads seem to point towards DTC's that don't relate to this model in any way or the questions have gone unanswered. Does anyone have the slightest idea what I am on about and able to help? My gut feeling is CPK sensor, but I have a cam speed sensor too so would appreciate any guidance.

Default code 44

Out of interest; with the new ECM fitted I get just a code 44 which I can't find listed anywhere but I'm guessing would mean that the ECM isn't programmed?

Default Cpk

I'm getting zero volts from the CPK sensor while cranking so I'm going to order a new one, hopefully that will cure it and fill my box of sparks back up. Will post results.

Did you replace the CPK yet? I'm thinking mine is going bad too - '03 FXDX. Bike starts to pop/miss when it gets hot, checked everything in the carb, all is good there so I think it's electrical.

I have a 2003 FXDX that has been throwing an intermittent check engine light on startup. Last night, on the way home, the light came on and stayed on. I get all the DoXXclr, then PPU, then 84172. I have not jumpered any pins. If I cycle thru the codes again, the engine light comes on at do1clr and stays on until I cycle past do1clr.

The engine light coming on after the bike starts up for 8 seconds is telling you there is a code that is being stored in the history of the ECM. The only way to find out what the code is on early Dynas, 1999-2003 I think, is to jump the 1 and 2 pins on the data recorder. If you do a search you can find info on the number of flashes of the engine light to get the codes. The early Dynas can only give you speedo problems from the process you did - pushing in the trip button. All these history codes will be cleared after 50 start ups, as long as the bike is run for about 30 seconds. Or you can pay $$ to a HD dealer to read the code and clear it for you. Hope this helps.

sounds exactly same problem that i have with my 1998 sportster,
do2,do10
speed sensor shorted high or open
speed sensor shorted low or open
I still havent figured it out yet,it started after putting new plugs and wires
bad wire somewhere ,ever time i try to fix it its like a gremlin moving around
the manual im reading from keeps telling me replace each part with a known good part and see it fixes problem,or scanalyzer needed,or more bs for its lack of information ,
thinking of putting points in for $10
