I had a car pull across the intersection last sunday and i put my bike down. I have a 1999 fxdwg and I need a Tank handlebars and a rear fender. I am having a tough time finding anywhere online. sorry for the newbie question but its just frustrating with this broken hand. Any advice on where to look would be great.
Thanks
Brian
Take your bike to a dealership and have the dealership prepare an estimate. Turn the estimate in to the other driver's insurance company, and let the dealership order the parts.
Unless of course there is no other driver with insurance paying for this...
In that case, if your insurance is paying for it, follow the steps listed above with your own insurance company.
If you are paying out of your own pocket, try e-bay... or list something here on hdforums but in the classifieds - parts wanted.
For reference, and google search purposes, your tank is part number 61039-96 (that's primed but not painted... looks like you have custom paint), the rear fender is 59918-97A (primed), and the bars are 56079-93. If you are looking to buy new, Ronnies HD, Surdyke HD, and probably others, all list these parts, and can order them for you.
Not clear whether you hit the car that violated your right of way or you put the bike down to avoid the car. Not a good idea to intentionally wreck to avoid a collision.
Either way, the insurance of the cage driver should be taking care of your injuries and damage. If the cage took off and didn't stop, your insurance will cover you.
Get well soon.
The main thing is your ok and will ride another day. There are some other sites online that deal with salvage parts if your footing the bill. Good luck getting yourself and the bike back in riding shape.
Insurance sounds the best . Professional work, New parts, and a good over all go through. Had a guy on another bike hit me in the rear at a stop sign one time and insurance was Johnny on the spot. Glad you're OK !!
Wow just saw the pic.! SUX BAD. Custom paint I'm guessing.
