i have a 2011 street bob. Recently acquired a mint set of mags from a 2006 low rider. Can anyone give me info as to if they will fit and what I need If so? Thanks
The wheels themselves are identical from 06 up. Only difference is 06 had a different bearing size, and I honestly can't remember right now if it was 3/4 or and inch. Anyway 08 and up they went to the 25mm bearing, so throw in the correct bearings and it should be a direct swap. If I am wrong hopefully someone here will correct me, but I learned this from the forum so a search can provide you with the exact info
I would try Dyna beads instead of adding that much weight to your "new" wheels, been using them for years and they absolutely work for tubeless wheels.
I'm in the same boat, defined plan on a set of mags for my bob. The wire wheels looks cool and all, but the tubes are a pain if you wanna change your own tire and my rim has so many bends in them from pot holes and hard riding that I joke I have square wheels. Plus those mags IMO look bad *** on a street bob
Will I need new spacers or just use the existing ones? Wasn't 100% sure. I would think from outside to outside of hub would be the same. Any input would be great
Your outer spacers are fine, the inner spacers inside the wheel between the bearings may need to be updated to 25mm, or just use all the bearings and spacers from your wire wheels on the new mags. Either buy the expensive wheel bearing puller tool from George's Garage or Heartland and do it all yourself or take all 4 wheels to your HD dealer and tell them to swap all the guts from your wire wheels over to the mags.
If you are going to powdercoat those mags do it now before the bearings are installed.
This tool does it all and will save you a bundle. Freeze the bearings in your freezer for a week and a slight film of grease on them and the bearing seat and they go in too easy.
Do things like this yourself and you know they are done right, with quality parts, and save you bucks.
