So I've been on the hunt for my first Harley, and it came home with me today -
It's an 08 FXDC with 12k miles. Few minor things I want to change - I hate the saddlebags, they just don't fit the bike I don't think. so I'll swap those out for a quickly detachable set that will look better. I'm also not sold on the shield vs. a fairing, but the jury is still out on that one.
All told, got a killer deal on the bike, and picked it up early enough to get about a hundred miles in this afternoon to get a good feel for her.
Yeah those bags are pretty ugly but at least they are 'throw-overs' so just throw them over in the garage until you really need them.
As for the windsheild, they are handy and being quick detatch is makes them even handier. If you really don't like the full touring/police style windsheild, HD makes a 'Super Sport' screen that is more sleek and without all the chrome grid all over the front of it. They almost disappear when mounted and it too can be quick detatch.
Took the bags off as planned, and this weekend got the fairing on to replace the large touring shield. Still have a few minor tweaks to get the fairing just right, but it's getting close to what I had envisioned -
