Default Windshield issue

I have a 2014 FXDC with the quick detach windshield. The issue is the quick release clamps mount the windshield forward so much that there is this big gaping hole around the headlight. Looking for some info on optional mounting clamps that would move the windshield back to flush with the headlight. The dealer wasn't much help....just kind of went hmmmmm.....hadn't heard that before.

Are you trying to get rid of buffeting or just make it look better?

Both. Have quite a bit of air coming in thru the hole. My previous ride had a Memphis Shades windshield on it that mounted much closer to the headlight. Only had minor buffeting over the top.

I have a modified front end using fat Bob trees on the street Bob. I got lucky and was able to pick up new mounting brackets that would work with the same windshield I used with the street Bob trees. When I did the conversion, it pushed the windshield out and I got a gap much like yours. I went to Headwinds web site and picked up a new headlight mount block the moved the light forward. I'll try and get a pic up of the before and after.

Mine is the same way. I don't know if it will work or not, but I've heard that you can put something like a tool bag or something like above the headlight and that will block the wind.

Same thing here. I changed the the Triple Tree's on my FXDC to FatBob Tree's but kept the single headlight. I ended up using a Wide Glide windshield and there was a gap above the headlight.

I mounted a HD Windshield Bag and that ended the problem. No buffeting and it filled the unsightly gap.

Ride Safe,
P

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Headwinds-5-...4d464e&vxp=mtr This link will take you to what blue angel is talking about. It'll push your headlight out an 1 1/2". I don't think it'll help with buffeting though.

Thanks for everyone's suggestions. Think I found some alternate clamps that may work from a friend. Waiting for him to get back from a trip. Won't have the quick detach feature but would only take a couple of minutes to remove. If they work, I'll follow up. Anyone know the fork diameter of the 2014 Super Glide? Found some posts for older models that stated 49 mm.
