Mine came on yesterday but stayed on for a minute or so then shut off on my way back from work. When it came on I was riding like a pissed of teenager banging every gear, passing every car in front of me then I noticed it and as I came into town and made the first down shift it went off. Any one got any suggestions to check first? How do you check stored codes?
To enter diagnostic mode, press and hold the trip odometer reset switch while turning the IGN On.
Release the trip odometer reset switch. "diag" will appear on the odometer display.
Press and release the trip odometer reset switch. ECM will appear on the odometer display. It will have either a "Y" or an "N" after it, depending if there are any ECM codes or not.
Quickly press and release the trip odometer reset switch to cycle through the modules. The modules include the BCM,SPDO,Tach, and ABS.
Once the desired module is displayed, press and hold the trip odometer reset switch.
If any DTC's are stored in the module, the odometer will display the DTC. Quickly pressing and releasing the trip odometer reset switch will cycle through the stored DTC's
When all the DTC's have been cycled the odometer will display "end".
To clear all the DTC's in the module press and hold the trip odometer reset switch, while a DTC is displayed. If DTC's are not to be cleared quickly press and release the trip odometer reset switch. The part number of the module will be displayed.
Press and release the trip odometer reset switch again to continue to the next module.
Make note of all DTC's. Clear all DTC's and operate the vehicle to verify DTC's set and are current. Historic DTC's are not to be diagnosed unless the condition is recurring and intermittent.
Turn the IGN OFF to exit the diagnostic mode. If IGN is not turned off, vehicle will exit diagnostics when vehicle starts moving.
Security Lamp
The security lamp functions in the same manner as the check engine lamp. except that it is controlled by the BCM. The security lamp will be turned on when current codes are present in the BCM.
Current Codes vs Historic Codes
Current DTC codes are those which presently disrupt motorcycle operation and are set during current ignition cycle. To determine current DTC's are present, clear the DTC's and operate vehicle within the parameters foe setting DTC.
See approriate diagnostic procedures for solutions.
Historic DTC codes
If a particular problem happens to resolve itself, the active status problem is dropped and it becomes a Historic DTC rather than a Current DTC. DtC's will also loose their current status when the ignition is turned off. If the problem still exists when the ignition is turned on, the DTC code will show as current. Historic DTC's are stored for 20 ignition cycles to assist in the diagnosis of intermittent faults. On the 20th error free cycle, the DTC will clear itself.
Ok now that I finally figured it out I have a 62262 and a Pn 69992-12A from my bmc I have tried to Google both of these with no luck I do have a daymaker headlight and a fender edge light if that makes a difference
Here's what I found: B2262 Front Brake Switch Stuck
Not sure but I think the 69992-12A may be a module or version number and is not actually a error code.
Thank you! Also thanks for being patient with me never done this before. I'd say it ain't stuck anymore now that the light is off correct? I can't tell that the brakes are grabbing. It's still under warranty so I'll bring it by them to check it out but I'll belive I'll ride it there.

That # 69992-12A is the part number for the BCM module.
First clear your DTC codes and then take a short ride. Shut bike off and do a diagnostic test again. If no DTC codes are present, then all is good.
Remember that if you don't clear codes before doing a subsequent diagnostic check any codes present will be historic codes and may not indicate a current problem.
