So I just got home from a ride in WV and had my bike strapped down for 600 miles. It got down there fine and rode fine but as we strapped it back down my shock started to leak. The guy who helped me strap it has rode bikes for 35 years and strapped many bikes and he sucked it right down so it couldn't bounce. So I trusted him but now I'm thinking he strapped it to tight? The bike has 2500 miles so it's not a old seal. Is it possible he strapped it to tight? And how tight do guys strap them down? Now it has to go to Harley and I bet it won't be cheap to fix.
Never bottom forks when transporting..
I use a 4 x 4 under the front part of the frame for it to bottom on.
The bushing is the only thing that can move when the forks are bottomed. The bushing can go bad with just one trip which will cause the seal or seals to leak.
I would do both forks, seals and bushings.
