Currently running a Stage 1 kit on a 2008 Street Bob. K&N filter, Vance and Hines short shot exhaust, dyno tuned. I know I'm not at optimal performance with the exhaust so what should I do to increase my bikes performance across the board? Do I really need new pipes(if so, what kind?) or can I just upgrade to a better AC or maybe even cams and retune it? Thanks for the help.
I call shorts shots first bike exhaust. Because everyone that gets their first Harley always puts those pipes or drag pipes on them. I recommend exhaust, cams, tune.
Depending on how far you think you want to go, cams are a good choice...I'm using the S&S E-Z starts in last two engines to avoid taking heads off for comp releases; interested in minor increases now...done the total engine teardown build and while it was a fun engine, it wasn't really ideal for my riding style (2 lane touring)
Prior to replacing my 2:2 exhaust (for volume reasons not performance) I did the cams. Easy 10 hp and 10 tq if you do it. Can be done reasonably if doing the work yourself, just replace cams, bearings, push rods can easily be acquired for around $600. Pipe change would certainly help a little but if you like the looks and sound I would do cams first since a new exhaust will easily cost the same amount. Will need a tune as well and of course if you have money to spend head work would be good fun!

Since all u guys r recommending cams which cams should one go with I have 15 bob with v&h big radius 2 to 1 , dk customs ac tuned on fp3
I'd suggest that you do some searching on the engine tech side of this forum and perhaps start a new thread there.
Cam choices are aplenty and your decision should be made based on your style of riding, your future plans for the engine, etc. I have the Andrews 57h's which were made to be a great bolt in cam for a stock 103 engine. Power comes on a little later in the band than some others but runs right to the rev limiter (even though I don't take it that far).
so probably a question that you can pose in a separate thread. Once your ready to do the work there are also some great resources available!
