Default chain drive conversion

Has anyone converted to a chain drive? Im gonna do my 97 wide glide and with all the parts, including the tire I can do it for 400 bucks. I will be able to fit a 180 tire on it, just wondering if anyone else has done it?

I like the look of the wider tires and its alot chaeper than doing the tranny offset kit.

It also would give you more choices in gearing, it's alot easier and cheaper to get custom sprockets as opposed to pulleys.Allot of buell guys do this when they go racing.

I just finished putting a stroker motor in her also so I think the strength of a chain would also be good

I have converted my 01 FXDL over to chain drive to accept 180-200mm tire. Not sure about a 97 wide glide, but the 01 FXDL required the fender struts be moved outboard to accept a 8 1/2 inch fender (in my case they were cut and re-welded). Other parts were trans offset sprocket/chain/18 x 5.5 rear wheel/rear sprocket/new axle spacers/etc.
