Have the Switchbacks changed at all since first appearing in 2012? I test rode a 2016 today but found a very good price on a private party 2012 with less than 2000 miles. The only visual difference I can see is the intake/breather, and the new ones come with a tender harness already installed on the battery.
Earlier Switchbacks had some vibration issues due to the exhaust mount and a few other quirks. '16 I assume is sorted out... Owners were able to sort the issues on older models as far as I know. Several threads if you do a search. I suggest a test ride a RK too before you buy.
If the price where substantially lower for the 12 it'd be a no brainer for me-less than 2000 miles! You could apply some of your savings to really make the 12 unique. Would you mind disclosing the asking price on the 12?
The dealership where I live doesn't have any on the floor because of such poor sales. I think if Harley would have presented them a bit more retro, they'd be big sellers. My bikes a Street bob and I could have done my build a little cheaper if I had started with a Switchback. I'd rather have my bike then a King but I ride solo-wife has a sportster.
clevis pin mod or complete new system and you will be EXTREMELY HAPPY.. members of the switchback owners site even worked out an electric cruise control setup using all genuine HD parts
Yup-No brainer! I would recommend having a thorough inspection done unless you feel qualified. 4 year old bike with no miles may have set in the garage quite a bit-hopefully it was started up from time to time to keep the lubricants lubricating and the seals/gaskets from drying out. I'm not sure what MSRP on new-but where I live you tac on another 2-3K for DMV and dealership BS fees.
I'd go in low-- say $8k and work from there. Even 9K seems like a great deal to me. But I'm in California and you see 12's going for $12-13K on CL.
that's a great price for a 4 year old bike so long as it has never been down
and as fskitch stated you have a thorough inspection done I don't see how
you can go wrong
