are you asking to find out of they are problematic, or if the install is difficult, or what?
I don't have one, but I have swapped my headlamp. Its pretty straight forward. You will have to pull the wire harness up out of the frame to the connector. Being that is a HD lamp, it should to plug and play. I went with a off brand that only had two wires instead of three, so I needed to dick around with figuring out which two went into one.
Its easy to do, but I don't know if the lamp is crap or not.
I have one on my Super Glide non-custom. Nice light.
You can save a lot if you get it from Zanotti's. If your bike is like mine, you'll need the tall mount. I had two minor problems installing it:
First, getting the light onto the tall mount. The "ears" of the light were just an RCH too tight. I spread 'em by putting a bolt through the ears and threading two nuts on the bolt where it passed between the ears. Then by turning the nuts in opposite directions I could spring the ears out the tiny amount they needed without doing anything gruesome to the chrome. If I did it again, I'd add a couple of washers to the mix to keep the nuts from turning on the chrome, but it didn't hurt anything.
Second problem was that the light was wired differently than the harness, so the high beam/low beam was reversed. That required popping the pins out of the connector and re-ordering them. It's no big deal.
Eastern Performance had a similar light on sale for 99.00 Was originally 200.00. My brother just bought this one and adapted it to his V Rod. Total cost for him was around 500.00 dollars with the backing plate and lamp. (I beleive the price is only for the shell)

OMG, you would think a HD lamp for a HD motorcycle would be wired correctly. I know you said it wasn't a big deal to pop the pins out, but still. Do they do this crap just to **** with DIY'ers?
I had to muck around with my, but I didn't buy an HD lamp.

I just assumed that it was wired up right for some model other than mine. I have a Dyna Super Glide -- I'm used to having to adapt parts. It's the low end of the big Harley's and "Don't get no respect."
