So i have an 09 dyna fxd. Its leaking a bit of engine oil maybe 2-3 drops a day. But I also have another fluid that looks like oil but is completely clean. Yes I'm also very new to the harley scene. Thanks
The clean one is very likely the primary. Based on the location of the other, right behind the oil pan skid plate, it would seem to be the transmission drain plug.
Should be easy to tell. Get your head under there and look. The drain plug locations are in the service manual. Probably in the owners manuals too. I've never actually looked mine.
Yep I'm going with drain plug O rings as the first thing to check. Should be easy enough to take a look under the bike and see if its coming from the plug
The year and model help to understand but since we can not see the more information available the better.
For example miles, some times problems are closely related to miles and bike condition or modifications.
The picture was an excellent idea but it is rather difficult to judge leak location just by looking at a pan and there are numerous brands/colors of oils.
I am going to guess that since it is clean it might be transmission fluid.
The harley brand transmission fluid is very clear and is usually very clean.
I would start by reviewing the drain plug for transmission, then engine drain plug and then finally primary drain plug.
The link below will allow you to enter year and model in order to better understand the parts on your bike. http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.....asp?make=hdmc
Clean off the bottom and look up my man...Harley do not leak now unless something has been done to them most of the time these days. My 04 with 50 K is completely dry under it. Check those sight windows on your two master assemblies today!

Check your shift shaft seal too (on the transmission in that gap behind the primary casing) - that's a common place for those little black oil leaks. Sometimes folk mistakenly think it's coming from the primary oil drain (because the oil runs down behind the primary and drips off the drain plug...
