I'm really close to trading out my beloved Iron for a new Street Bob. Does anyone know if my detachable windshield would fit the bob? I plan on bringing over my Daymaker, Custom Dynamics LED's.
My windshield is a Harley made shield I bought used. It's the kind that has the rings that stay on the forks, and the shield quick attaches to those.
Yup, I think nevil is right on this one. Take a look though at your clamps and if they can be removed and swapped for ones that would fit 49mm forks?
He said "the kind that has the rings that stay on the forks" - I am not familiar with HD shields like that. I've only seen the ones with the QD clamps like you mention, Robby.
Sounds more like the Memphis Shades system to me. Or maybe an older version?
Then the other question is are the forks the same width. That would be an issue as well, if different.

think long and hard about new.... especially here in florida... you can throw a rock in any direction and hit an untouched midlife crisis garage queen street bob for sale
True enough! Lifestarts, guess we need more info and pics!
Cant post pics at the moment... My windshield IS genuine HD. It's just older. The guy I bought it from had it as a take off from an early-mid 2000's custom. It says HD right on it. They mount much like the what you'd see on a fat boy or heritage.
The clamps that stay on the forks look kind of like the stock muffler clamps. They appear to have a lot of room to mount on a thicker fork. I guess the real question is the distance between the forks... as in are they the same distance apart on a Sporty vs. Bob?
Man it would be soooo nice if it would work on the Bob.

I hear you on that! I'm just weird (and dumb) about wanting a bike that no one else owned. My mistake was doing the test ride about a month ago! I loved that bike because it just really fit me in every way.
The dealer called me today and offered up a deal that wasn't offered a month ago. I love my Iron, especially after everything I did to it but man the Bob just feels like they made it for me.
Not sure if I'm going to do this for sure, but if I do it will be Saturday.

The problem is not the distance between the forks but the diameter of each fork. The Bob's are 49mm and the sporty is probably 39mm...Guess you'll need bigger muffler clamps.
Go to the dealer and measure the distance between forks.
I did that today. You guys are correct. I knew the forks were larger diameter. The bad news is that they're further apart. So it looks like it wouldn't work.
