Default My 2015 FXDL Mods

I purchased a 2015 FXDL a couple weeks ago, had it shipped and doing cosmetic and minor performance mods, Stage One, true Track, Illusion Cycle 14" Tbars, led headlight and tail light, relocate front turn signals, and a couple other things. Thought I'd do a thread to keep track for myself and possibly to someone in the future. I'll post part numbers as applicable.

These are how the bike arrived to me. Stock but with one-off HD paint. Don't ask me how to get HD one-off paint, this was the personal bike of a HD dealer.

Rode the bike about 100 miles and took it into HD for the ignition switch recall. Good thing because I received the wrong keys and HD replaced the ignition and fork lock under the recall. A couple days later, I put it on a jack and started disassembling. Here we are today:

I like chrome, but the FXDL has a bit too much. Lower legs, battery box covers, foot peg brackets and brake lever are off to the powder coating for the gloss black treatment.

With everything disassembled that need be, I did a mock up of the 14" Illusion Cycle Tbars. I was please to find there is plenty of OEM wiring so I do not need to extend any wires, with the exception of the turn signals to relocate them at the lower triple tree. Should look good with the Rifle fairing I have on order.

Also have the front True Track installed. The rear will have to wait until the bikes off the jack.

I also had a seat fabricated by C&C Seats. Went in on Wednesday and picked it up today. This is my second seat (on a second bike) from C&C and they are nothing but excellent in service and quality! I've gone through no less than 5 seats trying to find a good one. This seat will move me back 1 1/2 to 2 inches from stock. Plus it looks a whole lot better. They have a new vinyl called asphalt that is used on the riders portion. Smooth vinyl on the strap and rear pillar.

More to follow. . .

Default Bar install

You say you used all OEM wiring to install the bars does that include the brake line in clutch ?

You will need a longer brake line and clutch cable for 14 inch t-bars. Wiring is good, there's a bunch of it stuffed into the frame.
